Skirvin & Associates was founded in 2000 by 26 year senior market veteran Richard L. Skirvin. Skirvin & Associates was built to provide services such as final expense planning to the senior market.
In 2008, we formed a partnership with Old American Insurance Company which enabled us to offer specialized products to senior citizens to assist in preparing for their final expenses and gifts/legacy to their loved ones. In 2014 & 2016, Skirvin & Associates was awarded the President’s Quality Service Award and in 2015 the agency was awarded the prestigious Agency of the Year Award.
We currently employ agents in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama. With the agency headquarters in Hanover, IN , we have Regional offices in Tennessee and West Virginia.

Richard L. Skirvin – President
Richard Skirvin is the President of Skirvin & Associates, Inc. After spending 5 years in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1990, Rich earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University in Healthcare Management. Prior to starting his own business in 2000, Rich operated many healthcare facilities including Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities, including his last position as Regional Vice-President of Operations of a Tennesse-based Long Term Care company. His healthcare experience in the senior community assists him with numerous retirement issues, including nursing home financial exposure and financial risk prevention. Rich is also a member of the National Association of Professional Agents. When not at work, Rich enjoys spending time with his wife Angela, 3 kids and 4 grandchildren.
Jeff White – Regional Sales Manager/Director of Training
Jeff White joined Skirvin & Associates, Inc. in 2011. He serves as the Regional Sales Manager covering Virginia and West Virginia. Jeff has worked in the insurance industry for over twenty five years. Jeff is not only a Regional Sales Manager with Skirvin & Associates, but is also the Director of Training. Jeff is passionate about equipping agents with the best training possible so they can not only be successful, but efficient. Outside of work, Jeff loves anything outdoors; hunting, riding in his razor, and getting muddy. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, SuEllen, their children, and grandchildren.
Karen Richmond – Regional Sales Manager
Karen joined Skirvin and Associates in April 2014. She serves as the Regional Sales Manager covering our portion of AL, TN and the Carolinas. Karen has worked in the financial services industry for over 20+ years including working corporately for two life insurance companies. In 2008, she began her own independent agency focused in the senior market. She is passionate about partnering with quality agents who want to provide the right products that meet the sensitive needs of the growing senior population.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys time with her husband, Chip, and their extended family. She is also an artist who loves to express her creativity through her paintings, decorating and preparing delicious meals for her family and friends.
